When we were in Santa Rosa, Sabrina Renee wanted to show Dexter and his mom what she looked like in her Halloween costume. Dexter loved the bee. He ran around chasing her because he wanted to squeak it. She got tired of him doing it and barked at him so we made him stop.

I ended up sending him a spare bee that I had at home.

My Spoiled Golden Retriever – Getting Ready for Fun with Dogs

Sharon Hill | November 15th, 2010

Sabrina Renee can’t wait to get to the polo field in the mornings when we are in Santa Rosa. As soon as Dexter’s mom opens the car door, they run in and are ready to go. The field isn’t far from Dexter’s house, in fact, we walked there one morning, but with Sabrina and I had to head home today, we took the car.

Below, the two of them stopped for a photo in the middle of their fun.

We are still in Santa Rosa and the weather was so nice this afternoon that the dogs got to go swimming. Sabrina Renee, my spoiled golden retriever, and chocolate lab, Dexter, love to swim. With us on the trip was sheltie, Casey, who does not like to get wet, so he and his mom hiked and waited as the other dogs swam.

Sabrina was very tired after swimming and promptly fell asleep next to me in the back seat of the van when she was done playing.

We are in Santa Rosa which means Sabrina Renee can run and play wither her friend, chocolate lab, Dexter, at the local polo field. As you can see in the video above, she loves to chase a tennis ball, Dexter isn’t as interested. She does get tired and sometimes takes a rest, usually lying on top of the ball so no other dogs can get to it.

There are a number of dogs on the filed at the same time as Sabrina Renee and Dexter. Many are small dogs but they all get along well and the field is so big that they can have room to run by themselves, if they wish. Below is a photo of Happy, the schnauzer, who visits the field a few times a day.

Happy Halloween, from My Spoiled Golden Retriever!

Sharon Hill | October 31st, 2010

Sabrina Renee doesn’t mind wearing a costume on Halloween, she likes the attention she gets when she dresses up. I had already bought her a Halloween costume when I spotted this pink flower one and decided to try it on her. She smiled and wagged her tail as soon as she put it on and I knew instantly it was the one she wanted to have.

The pink petals framed her face perfectly. The green bodysuit was pretty easy to get on her. I added the bumble bee, it’s actually a squeaky toy from her Hide-a-Bee toy.

I took Sabrina Renee to Dog Bone Alley, where we got the costume, and she showed them how happy she was that she got a cute outfit.

Then we came home and went to see the pumpkins that her friend, Colt, the chocolate lab, has at his house. She ended up playing with him. . .

and getting treats from his mom. She wasn’t much interested in seeing their great pumpkins.

We also went to the neighborhood Halloween parade before coming home and playing in our yard.

My Spoiled Golden Retriever Plays in a Polo Field

Sharon Hill | October 4th, 2010

My golden retriever, Sabrina Renee, and I finished our weekend trip with a run at the polo field in Santa Rosa. The dogs in the neighborhood are luck to have access to the field when the horses aren’t around.

Sabrina Renee and Dexter played Frisbee and catch with a tennis ball. She loves running and had a great time racing Dexter in the open field.

My Spoiled Golden Retriever Meets a Chocolate Lab

Sharon Hill | July 25th, 2010

Today our former neighbor came into town from with her dog, who we had not met before. He is a chocolate lab named Dexter whom she rfescued from a shelter. He is about two to three years old and is very cute. I was concerned about Sabrina Renee meeting him because sometimes she gets a little rowdy when she first meets a new dog.

Turns out I had no reason to worry. She saw a familiar face and got really excited then Dexter came running out the door and Sabrina Renee took to him right away.

We got to walk with them a few times and play Frisbee.

They invited us to visit their home in the future.
